Prompt: Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt: As you grow older and face new experiences, what issue or topic do you think you'll have to stand up and debate most often, whether with friends, family, or society?

As I get older, I think I’ll have to speak up a lot about the balance between doing what you want and doing what’s best for everyone. Sometimes people make choices that seem fine for them, but they can hurt the environment or others around them. I think this will come up with my friends and family when we don’t agree on things like rules, fairness, or what's right. It’s not always easy to find the middle ground, but I think it’s important to try. I’ll probably keep having this debate because it really matters how we treat each other and the world. Summary: Today in class, I learned more about claims. Reflection: Today in class, I learned how to make a strong claim.

Prompt: Write about a truth you were afraid to accept.

A truth I was afraid to accept was that my high school days are almost over. Last year went by quick, and now I have to think about colleges. I ignored the truth instead of accepting it. It made me more motivated to get better at the sport so I wouldn't get judged.\ Summary: Today in class, I read a Common Lit assignment on fear. Reflection: Today in class, I learned that fear doesn't have to be a bad thing and can be motivating.
