Thinking about "The Rockpile," what is something your parents forbade you from doing when you were growing up? Explain what it was and why they might have set that rule.

When I was growing up, my parents forbade me from going to the park alone. They said it wasn’t safe because there were a lot of older kids who sometimes caused trouble, and they didn’t want me to get hurt or lost. At the time, I thought they were just being too strict, but now I understand they were trying to protect me. Like in “The Rockpile,” parents often make rules because they care and want to keep their children out of danger.

Summary: Today in class, I learned about the "rockpile" poem.

Reflection: Today in class, I learned more on how to research a poem.
